Uninjured survivors of the Costa Concordia crash were offered a flat $14,460 settlement for escaping the capsized cruise ship off the coast of Italy.
The deal proposed by a subsidiary of Miami-based Carnival Corp. would also reimburse those who fled the boat — including some who swam to shore — for the cost of the doomed cruise and any subsequent travel expenses.
The ship’s captain abandoned the liner, along with its 3,200 passengers, following the Jan. 13 wreck. The settlement offer was proposed to cover lost luggage and psychological trauma in the deadly crash.
